Views & filters

Switch between board and list, narrow tasks by release, type or area, and change many at once.

View as Markdown View this page as plain text

The Tasks page has two views of the same tasks and one toolbar to narrow them down. Nothing here changes a task until you use bulk actions.

When to use which. The board suits moving work between statuses. The list fits more tasks on screen and shows each description on one line, so it's better for scanning or tidying a release.

Switch between board and list

Use the two view buttons at the right of the toolbar.

Board: one column per status. Drag cards between them.

Both views keep Manual order unless you choose Last edited or Newest from the sort control. Frostbyte remembers your view, sort and release filter in this browser.

Show one release

The release control is the first button in the toolbar. Choose a release to show only its tasks, Backlog for tasks without a release, or clear it with × to see everything.

A release you choose here also becomes the default for tasks you create while it's selected. See Default release on new tasks.

Filter by type or area

Open Filter and select types, areas or both.

Pick several types or areas. The button shows what's applied.

Selecting more than one type shows tasks of any of them. Combining a type with an area shows only tasks that match both. With Bug selected, the 1.1.0 board narrows to two cards:

Filter: Bug. Clear it with the × beside the Filter button.

If you filter to a single type or area, new tasks you create pick it up too.

Type in Search tasks to match titles and descriptions as you type. Search for a number such as #11 to find that task. Search works on top of the release and filter you've chosen.

Search narrows the current view. Clear the box to see everything again.

Change several tasks at once

  1. Choose Select in the toolbar, then select the cards you want. On desktop you can also Cmd-click or Ctrl-click a card; on a touch screen, press and hold one.
  2. Use the bar at the bottom to change Status, Release, Area, Type or Assign, or to Delete the selection. Select all picks every task in the current view.
  3. Check the count on the left before you apply a change. Press Esc or × to stop selecting.
The bar shows how many tasks are selected and what you can change.

Things to note

  • Filters live in this browser. A teammate opening the same project sees their own view, sort and release filter.
  • Select all only takes what you can see. Clear filters and search first if you mean the whole project.
  • Bulk delete can't be undone. It asks first and names how many tasks it will delete.
  • Tasks: create, edit and finish a single task.
  • Releases: plan what ships together.
  • Import & export: move tasks in and out as a spreadsheet.
